The Ripple was abandoned in a sinking condition 27.11.1871 in 30 miles W of Flint Island Little Brace Bay Cape Breton Canada. His brother William Mounsey Brisco was the Bosun. Other ships he commanded between 1872 and 1889 and owned by Thomas Picton Richards have not yet been researched and compiled.
On the voyage of the "Florence Stella" from Barry Glamorganshire Wales on the 28th May 1891 to Montevideo and other South American ports back to Newport Monmouthshire Wales 28.03.1892, his second eldest son John joined as an AB in Montevideo on the 4th August 1891. Also on the voyage were his daughters Elizabeth Sarah aged 10 and Annie aged 12. Elizabeth became the first female with full membership of the of the Cape Horners Association. On the next voyage John was promoted to Ship's Bosun and his eledest son Robert joined in Newport Mon. Wales as the Ship's Mate certificate No.020308. Both sons eventually became master mariners.
